Winners of the Albert Schweitzer Prize 2022!

Early July, we submitted the Bonesetter Project for the Albert Schweitzer Prize 2022, a prestigious trophy for Dutch healthcare projects in sub-Saharan Africa. After first being nominated as one of 9 finalists for the Audience prize, a nomination for the Jury prize followed!
Last Saturday, 4th of October, Nathan and Joost attended the award ceremony: Nathan to tell about the progress of the Peanut Project (being last year’s finalist), and Joost to present the Bonesetter Project, along with two other finalists.
Ultimately the jury, chaired by Marion Koopmans, selected the Bonesetter Project and awarded a check of €7.000,-. But then we also won the Audience prize, making the prize money a grand total of €9.000!
With these funds, we can offer Jovine the financial security to kickstart his research career, and the tears on his face during the ceremony showed his relief.
Our sincerest thanks to everyone who’s helped make this possible! And now it’s business time!
